VAT in the UK
Since 2015, LifeConnect24 has offered leading personal alarm services to Irish customers. We are, however, a UK-based company. As such, our products and services are subject to the UK rate of VAT. The standard UK rate is 20%, as opposed to the Irish standard rate of 23%. However, the vast majority of our customers qualify for VAT exemption.
Therefore, you are very likely to pay no VAT at all on your personal alarm.
Medical Exemption
Lots of everyday products are already exempt from VAT. Many food and drink products are deemed essentials and are therefore ‘zero-rated’. Some products, including our personal alarm service, are available with VAT exemption for customers with disabilities or long-term medical conditions. More than 90% of our customers at LifeConnect24 qualify for this medical exemption. For more information see our current price plans .
How do I qualify for VAT Exemption?
The criteria for medical exemption vary depending on the product or service in question. Generally speaking, you will qualify if you are registered disabled or have a long-term medical condition such as diabetes or arthritis. If you are unsure whether you qualify, you can find out more on the government website.
How do I prove that I am eligible for medical exemption?
When you order a personal alarm online or over the phone, we will ask you whether or not you qualify for VAT exemption. Once you have completed your order, you will simply need to fill in our VAT Relief form with your name and medical condition(s).
