A Brief History of Tunstall
Tunstall were first established in the UK back in 1957 as part of an international expansion. The company would go on to launch in Canada (1991), followed by Spain, Holland and Australia in 1993. The company also acquired companies in the Nordics in 2006 and in Denmark in 2008.
This short timeline shows some of the other major accomplishments by Tunstall:
1981 – Launched the first monitoring centre software.
1982 – Launched Piper, the world’s first social alarm unit.
2000 – Entered the world of wireless sensors within the Telecare market.
2003 – Entered a partnership with McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s larges retirement house-builder.
The Lifeline Vi Alarm
The Lifeline Vi Alarm unit is the sixth personal alarm to be manufactured by Tunstall and features the very latest Telecare technology. The alarm unit is a compact size so that it will easily fit alongside other bits of furniture in your home.
The unit is finished in a grey and white casing so that it won’t ruin the look of your living room or hallway. The Lifeline Vi features a loudspeaker and a microphone so you can communicate with our 24-hour Response Team once you have pushed your pendant button. The loudspeaker has been designed to be loud enough to be heard even if the alarm user is not in the same room.
The base unit is very simple to install. All you need to do is to plug it into your telephone socket and a power socket, before connecting your telephone to the unit via the adapter provided. Once everything is connected you are ready to test your new personal alarm with the Response Team – just press the red button.
The MyAmie Pendant
The MyAmie Pendant is a sleek and stylish device that can be worn around your wrist or around your neck, both attachments are included inside the box. The MyAmie maybe small, but the red help button is actually a third larger than the previous model manufactured by Tunstall.
Alongside it’s sleek design, the pendant also features some great features:
- No Charging – This pendant uses batteries that will last for around seven years. Once the batteries begin to run low, we will receive an automatic message and will replace them free of charge.
- Waterproof – This pendant can still be worn whilst you’re in the bath or shower, as it is waterproof. This is ideal because the bathroom is a place where the risk of a fall increases.
- 100m Range – This pendant can still work whilst you’re outside in the garden, thanks to a range of up to 100 metres. Please test when your alarm arrives as all gardens are a different size.
In an emergency situation, simply press the red button on the MyAmie Pendant and our Response Team will receive an alert call. A member of the team will respond immediately over the Lifeline Vi Alarm unit’s loudspeaker to assess your situation.
Help will then be found in the form of your emergency contacts. These are commonly made up of family members, friends and neighbours, and are selected during the set-up process. If needed, the emergency services will also be contacted by our Response Team.
