Lifeline24 is a dedicated national Telecare provider that provides a low cost Telecare personal alarm service for anyone that is frail, elderly or disabled living in the Republic of Ireland.
Lifeline24 understands that simplicity is best when it comes to technology and gadgets for the elderly. This is why our emergency alert system has been designed to be as easy to install and as simple to use as possible.
The emergency alert system we offer provides unparalleled peace of mind for you and your family, with minimal intrusion. The Vi Alarm simply plugs into your landline socket and into the mains power, taking just a few short minutes to install. When the alarm is activated, either by the pendant or the red help button, it will take over your phone line to allow the Response Team to communicate with you over the unit’s loudspeaker.
Just to ensure that you know everything there is to know about a personal alarm, our blog takes a look at the front design and the three buttons that you will find on the front of your alarm’s base unit to help you better understand how the base unit works.
Help Button (Red)
This button works in the same way that the big red one does on your pendant – which you wear around your neck or wrist. By pressing this button on the alarm base unit you are alerting our 24/7 TSA Platinum Accredited Response Team that you require help, either because you have suffered from a fall or another medical issue.
The Response Team will react by speaking to you over the unit’s loudspeaker system. They will then contact one of your emergency contacts or the emergency services depending on the seriousness of the situation. Don’t worry if you struggle with your hearing; if the Response Team assistant doesn’t receive a response they will still arrange help for you.
When you receive your alarm and it has been installed this is the button you need to press in order to complete a test call. This will give you the chance to speak to our Response Team for the first time, along with giving them the chance to ensure that your alarm has been installed correctly and is working.
Cancel Button (Green)
This is the button you need to press if you accidentally press the red help button on your pendant or base unit. This will let our Response Team know that everything is fine and that you are not in any danger.
Don’t panic if a member of the Response Team responds before you can get to the cancel button, they are always happy to speak with you and it ends up being a good test for your system – It’s always good to know that your alarm is working as it should!
Home/Away Button (Yellow)
This is the button you need to press if you are going to be away from your home for a long period of time – usually between 3-4 weeks. By pressing this button you are letting our Response Team know that you are going to be away.
Users are welcome to ignore this functionality but it will save our staff from trying to contact customers should they be on holiday or in hospital.
If you do choose to press this button when you go on holiday, please press the button again when you return to your home just so we know that you are back and that all is well.
We rarely contact customers but we will do so on some occasions to ensure that customer details are up-to-date or to remind customers to test their pendant.
